Πραγματοποιήθηκε το 16th International Symposium on Maritime Health (5-8 Οκτωβρίου 2023), στο συνεδριακό κέντρο του ιδρύματος Ευγενίδου στην Αθήνα, με θέμα: «Ναυτική Ιατρική – Από την Αρχαιότητα έως σήμερα».
Το Συνέδριο συγκέντρωσε ειδικούς στον τομέα της ναυτιλιακής υγείας από όλο τον κόσμο, οι οποίοι μοιράστηκαν τα ερευνητικά τους ευρήματα, τις πρακτικές γνώσεις και τις εμπειρίες τους σχετικά με τη φροντίδα των ναυτικών.
Η τοποθέτηση του Προέδρου της Πανελλήνιας Ένωσης Πληρωμάτων Ιδιωτικών & Επαγγελματικών Θαλαμηγών Γιώργου Βάλλη, στο 16th International Symposium on Maritime Health:
«Our Union tries hard for good conditions on private & charter boats and the Health and Safety factors are our number one priority.
Thankfully the conditions on board, the category of vessels that we operate have been dramatically improved in relation with past years. The ship owners and companies have understood that a healthier and more sustainable environment makes a happier crew that provides better and better results.
Our Union has tried to concentrate on this factor since its establishment and this seems to be much appreciated by the crew members community. We are very happy to see that relevant international organizations are constantly seeking new methods to improve the safety and health conditions on board.
By health I want to note here that I mean mentally and physically, as they are both equally important. Unfortunately, we have noticed that this specific factor of mental health has not been taken under serious consideration in the yachting field.
The seamen-women in yachting are under some serious pressure conditions that usually lead to fatigue and depression. Therefore, we believe that resilient programs should also be applied actively in yachting as well.
At this point I would also like to thank all our members and associates who have helped us to reach this far at such a short period of time and we promise them that we will go even further with them as the power», τόνισε ο Γιώργος Βάλλης.
